Hello,

I am new to this forum so I would like to start with saying hello to everyone.

Could you help me with origin and authenticity of this tsuba? It looks a bit like heianjo but I could not find photo of any similar one. Also the brass inlay looks a bit strange to me (almost like it was made recently).  Could you offer some help?

Thank you in advance.

Krystian

Welcome to the forum, Krystian. I doubt it's Heianjo - the design just doesn't fit - & there's something definitely strange-looking about the tsuba, although I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe artificially aged, or something similar?

I think if it was a modern / repro  Tsuba as suggested why would you distress  in such away, that politely no one would want  bye it and pay for the restoration costs when there is so many Tsuba around that you could acquire in better condition IMHO.

it looks to me if it has been underground or in a  fire or both then someone has cleaned it up,  but I'm probably wrong !
