Some photos.  This set comes with a story that it was owned by the former Justice Minister of Japan, Tanaka, who received it through yakuza ties and secreted it out of his ownership.  I can't say whether the story is correct or not, but do like the set.  Enjoy.

Sorry, I have no plans to sell them.  I was just following along the guribori theme.  Alex, you taunted me into posting some photos!  Cheers, Bob

Everyone ends up selling, Bob. Not you, then your relatives, next generation or the following, doesn’t matter. That’s the way of collecting :)

No one lives forever. Unfortunately we can’t take our toys to the better world.

Unless you have plans to donate it to a museum, of course ;)

Best,

You are right Alex, and I will always consider selling most pieces in my collection if the price is right.  However, in general, I try to improve my collection and sell when I am ready or have to sell to raise funds for new purchases.

Absolutely. I think most of the collectors follow the same logic.

Bonsai principle. Cutting part or all the leaves of a tree, usually during summer, in order to force the tree to grow new leaves. Recommended only for trees healthy enough to withstand this demanding procedure :)

I've never seen a complete set before. It looks great mounted!

I don't think I've seen a complete set like this out of a magazine or book.

I recall seeing something like this either in Bushido magazine, or one of the 1980s collection catalogs- but never from several angles like that.

Most sincerely thank you for sharing those pictures.

I have quite literally seen tons of material over the years, fully mounted single swords a few. As far as Daisho, I know of only one other in a private collection. Again, this set is extremely rare, It has been a pleasure to see it.
