Can anyone tell me how I would go about finding the worth of these Tsuba?? Unfortunately I have next to no experience with Tsuba in general and don't know the provenance of any of these :/ Any advice/assistance would be helpful! Thank you!

Galush,  (is that your name?)

welcome to the forum!

The value is what someone is willing to pay. Might be difficult with these, so I guess  $ 200.-- for all. At least one does not look Japanese to me, another one is badly damaged, all are in bad condition..

If you want to compare with good TSUBA, have a look here at NMB. You will soon get an idea of what is considered worth collecting.

Hi name please,

Off the top of my head and with the understanding that I'm working from photos of one side and that I don't know the dimensions, I think these are worth somewhere between $75 and $150 each and #3 might be a bit more but not much.

Jean was posting same time as I was.  To an educated market they might be worth only $200 for all (if an educated market would even be interested) but maybe my figures would be more appropriate if they were offered someplace like Ebay (uneducated market).

Dear Joe,

Welcome!  (Please add your name to your posts, one of the rules that helps us all get along.)  I wouldn't want to be the bearer of bad news but these are all pretty far gone and were never great to start with.  Hope this is not bad news for you financially.

The tsuba you have numbered as 7, can you tell if the foliage is the same material as the plate?  If so then that suggests an etched design.  The holes to either side of the nakago ana are filled with something, not sure what but overall these have had a hard life.

You might have a look at Grey's site to compare, http://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com/store/Tsuba-&-Kodogu Take a careful look at the quality and condition of what you see.

Don't give up, this is a fascinating and if you are not careful an all consuming interest.

(Edit)  Ah well, at least we are all on the same page.

All the best.

Thank you, everyone! (My apologies for not signing my name on my original post, didn't realize it wouldn't automatically appear :)

I suspected a range you all are pointing toward so I appreciate the confirmation. And, Grey, thank you for the advice regarding relative audience education and possible price range.

You've all been incredibly helpful (and incredibly speedy) with your responses. Thank you for your time!

Best,

Joe G.

Hi Joe,

Just saw some of these on ebay and see that they were at one time glued down to something.  Unless the glue can be removed successfully your opening bids of $ .99 might be about right for final value.  Sorry for bad news.
