Daso Posted March 11, 2017 Report Posted March 11, 2017 Hello All, I've been looking for a nice Tsuba with mice motif and have not come across anything particularly pleasing. I do want a quality piece, but don't have budget for a museum piece for now. Thanks Quote

Daso Posted March 11, 2017 Author Report Posted March 11, 2017 very interesting, the second link you sent is about $830 US dollars in that listing then on Ebay US below, it's the same Tsuba at $2,100 wonder if it's the same seller or someone trying to sell then buy in Japan. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tsuba-Japanese-Samurai-sword-Katana-Koshirae-guard-the-mouse-pattern-Antique-/262859918189?hash=item3d33ac0b6d:g:9hsAAOSw5cNYME1O http://yushindou.com/tuba-03-560/ Quote

seattle1 Posted March 11, 2017 Report Posted March 11, 2017 Hello: Stephen's first listed seems very nice to me. The combination of the daikon, mouse (?) and several Buddhist tama, if that is what they are, is nice and the nunome is in good order and characteristically Jingo as is the rest of piece. A shinsa might attempt to indicate the genreration. I saw it pop up for auction and am a little surprised it didn't sell. Arnold F. Quote
Stephen Posted March 11, 2017 Report Posted March 11, 2017 Yes i seen the ebay one first, seen the seller, so did a image search an found it was lifted from Yushindou. Like Arnie i prefer Aoi's Quote
Daso Posted March 11, 2017 Author Report Posted March 11, 2017 Tsuba is one area that I haven't yet given the attention to detail that I've been trying to build with swords. I guess I am visually more attracted to the youshindu listing without having a good critical knowledge of what is oood or not. I appreciate the input Any thoughts on this one? Quote
Stephen Posted March 11, 2017 Report Posted March 11, 2017 BTW did you see their other tsuba? http://yushindou.com/tuba-03-512/ 1 Quote

Stephen Posted March 12, 2017 Report Posted March 12, 2017 i thought it like your other, not sure what the Bazz ment Quote
Bazza Posted March 12, 2017 Report Posted March 12, 2017 i thought it like your other, not sure what the Bazz ment Oh, gentlemen, SERIOUS. The emoji I used was the closest I could see to jaw-dropping surprise and if I was Darius with that avatar I would jump on it. I've seen a similar "sort of" tsuba that I'll put up as a separate thread. BaZZa. 1 Quote

It looks like a nice variation of mine and not a bad price at that (if real) Quote
Stephen Posted March 12, 2017 Report Posted March 12, 2017 Not sure what you mean if real, i have bought off them before, even took a not to much lower offer. the ebay sale of mice is stolen image of theirs, thought i made that clear. Quote

I wasn't doubting you at all. My knowledge of Good Tsuba and Bad Tsuba is not very good. I trust your judgement. I didn't know that you have purchased from them before. Now I am more confident that it is good. Thank you for your help. Quote
