Higo-san Posted March 9, 2017 Report Posted March 9, 2017 Dear all, I am looking for a spare nose part for one of my menpo. It is a black lacquered middle to late Edo period Nara Menpo with brass teeth. The condition of the nose is not so important for me as the menpo will go into restoration anyway! Best, Chris
dominnimod Posted March 9, 2017 Report Posted March 9, 2017 So many menpos with missing noses, sometimes i really wonder what happened to all those missing noses
Stephen Posted March 9, 2017 Report Posted March 9, 2017 if i had to wear one in battle id had tossed it too...lol
Higo-san Posted March 9, 2017 Author Report Posted March 9, 2017 One strong sneeze and it was gone ! Hopefully someone out there collects ancient Japanese handkerchiefs and wants to get rid of all those spare hana found in his beloved fabrics .
Barrie B Posted March 10, 2017 Report Posted March 10, 2017 Hi Chris, You may have to commission a nose piece... Probably a few people that could do it, but here is a suggestion that come straight to mind.. http://katchushi.com/showroom/karasu-tengu-menpo.html All the best, Barrie.
Higo-san Posted March 10, 2017 Author Report Posted March 10, 2017 Thanks for the link, Barrie! I guess that commissioning a piece will be the only option left in the end - however, I will give myself a couple of month time (an a trip to Japan) in order to try and find an ancient piece! Best, Chris
