Not exactly Nihonto related but I just wanted to say hi to everyone after a VERY long absence due to some family problems.

I hope to contribute regularly again from now on (if anybody even remembers me!)

Simon!

Don't go disappearing on us like that again. Had been wondering where you went. Sorry to hear about the family problem. Good to have you back. Are you still in Tokyo?

Still a Yasukuni nutter? :D

Simon, I hope all is well now. We missed you at the DaiTokenIchi, and especially the party we had on the second day - maybe you read about it on NMB? Anyhow, I'm planning a spring-gathering, and count on your attendance!

Welcome back Si,... ohitashiburidesu right back at ya!

Did you get my voice message and is your mobile still the same number?? I'll be back in Yokohama in 2 months or so and I expect some damage to my liver at that point!!! You still in Kanagawa?

Great to see you back again, mate and glad you're OK.

Cheers

Yo Sencho-san,

When entering Tokyo Bay, keep extra eyes on Maritime Self Defense Force's destroyer-class. They love to ram into civilian boats.

Welcome back Simon!

Thank you for such a warm welcome back gentlemen - it makes me realise just how much I missed the highly convivial company of the NMB.

Stephen: The new board looks wonderful although I must confess to being a little confused (with all the pretty colours and all) - I'm sure I'll soon get used to it.

Brian: I certainly intend to stick around from now on my friend - and yes, I'm still a Tokyo-based, Yasukuni-nutter! (Some things never change)

Henry: Glad to hear you've been flying the Yasukuni flag in my absence. I was considering putting my Yasutoku in for the Tokubetsu Hozon shinsa at the NBTHK but the chaps at the museum very politely hinted that Yasukunito aren't quite that highly regarded yet! Ah well, - give it another 10 years, eh?

Guido: You can absolutely count on my attendance at your next function as I was most miffed to miss out on the last legendary Schiller soiree (God, that's a real tongue-twister)!

BTW "O hitashi buri desu" isn't Yokohama dialect - just a miserable attempt at Japanese by a gaijin who can just about order a beer!

Nige: I'm really sorry - I didn't get your voice message but it doesn't surprise me as my last mobile was scrapped because of failed messages and a myriad of other problems. However, I've retained the old number and I'm still in Kanagawa so our mutual liver-damage should be able to go ahead with no hitches this time!

Ichi: Once again, thanks for the welcome back - it would certainly be good to catch up with you again in the near future (perhaps at Guido's next bash?).

Welcome back Simon!

:laughabove: I know that!!! Learned how to dodge those buggers though.... usually into Velasis City Marina for a few beers before a fast run to Bayside, Kanazawa... :freak:

Anyway... back to Si'..... start your training matey.... May will be here before you know it.... and I'm packing some good shochu!!

Guido... you got anything planned for end May - beginning June?

Velasis Marina? In Uraga? That's where I live, just in front of the beach where Commodore Perry anchored his blackship. Will keep watching with my binocular.

Cockney Kanagawa dialect

When Simon wrote it that way I thought it was a typo, but when you did, too, I honestly thought it might be a dialect (or maybe an insider joke). Now I know it was both! :D

I had April in mind, but there never can be enough NMB gatherings, can there? 8) I'm pretty sure we can squeeze something in in early June. PM me your e-mail address and I'll keep you in the loop.
