Katsujinken Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 From my last visit to the Mori Art Museum in Roppongi. I wish I had more detailed photographs, but thought this might be worth sharing. The board is rotating my photo of the description – sorry about that. 1 Quote
Brian Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 I bet there is very little meteorite in that sword. Quote
Katsujinken Posted February 27, 2017 Author Report Posted February 27, 2017 Yes, I'm curious about how the iron from the meteorite was mixed with the tamahagane. There's obviously no way a meteorite provided enough iron for the entire blade given how much of the starting material is eliminated during forging, etc. Who knows... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Quote
Alex A Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 Tutankhamun had a dagger from meteoritehttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/01/tutankhamuns-blade-made-from-meteorite-study-reveals/ Clueless as to what the outcome of an art sword would be using a nickel iron meteorite, folk have used meteorite iron for weapons and tools etc in the past. 2 Quote
