Stephen Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 very very hard to come by, the buy it now is a bit high but i think they go for more at shows now, is that so Gray or Mark? anyway good luck! http://cgi.ebay.com/Japanese-Sword-Engl ... dZViewItem
Bungo Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 I will hijack this thread.......... http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmuramasa-iii again, I urge you all to bid often and early like what we Chicago democrats do......... milt
Mark Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 as Stephen asked i will pitch in........ yes they are rare and maybe will be this price or higher at a show. But you can buy the digital version for a lot less....... so you have to ask " do you collect books, or is this for use and reference" ??????
Brian Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Ah yes Mark....but the electronic version doesn't have pics, so you need to purchase the original Japanese books, and also have access to the electronic translation. And then you need to sit by the pc with the books on your lap and look up the English page. Bit clumsy when you also have a sword on one hand trying to look up a mei, check the book for the pics and work on the pc translation. Not a pretty picture :D I would love the AFU translations. Brian
Mark Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 the translation does not have pictures either. so you need the book for comparision. I usually use the book to compare mei then look up the translation afterwards.
Henry Wilson Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 With the electronic version you can search and find your man with ease. You can also keep yourself amused for hours by making your own hilarious modifications such as: "Masamune used to ride naked on a donkey around the local area to celebrate the completion of yet another excellent sword"
Jacques D. Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Hi, Interesting  and where can we find the electronic version?
Guido Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 With the electronic version you can search and find your man with ease. You can also keep yourself amused for hours by making your own hilarious modifications such as: Henry, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who suffers from a Woody Allen-ish evil twin ... :D
Eric H Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Contact AFU, Harry Watson. If you can attest, that you own the 2 Fujishiro's books, you will get the english translation (zip) in pdf. Of course you have to pay for this service and you have to certify that your are the ONLY user of it. Eric

Kajihei Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Wow, Good to see that this board is going multi-lingual! Here's my two yen's worth: 日本刀工辞典ã«ã¤ã„ã¦ã§ã™ãŒã€è—¤ä»£æ¾é›„æ°è‡ªèº«ãŒç™ºè¡Œã—ãŸè‹±èªžã®ç´¢å¼•ãŒã‚ã‚‹ã¨èžãã¾ã—ãŸã€‚何方ã‹ãŠæŒã¡ã§ãªã„ã§ã—ょã†ã‹ã€‚ I've heard of an English index issued by Fujishiro Matsuo himself. Has anyone seen or have it? I wonder if it is copyrighted. If not, that would be something the members of this board can benefit from. Would someone care to scan it and post it? ã©ã†ã‚‚〠Thanks! é›å†¶å¹³ Kaji
