Hello Markus

That will be a very important book for the community. I hope the issues with pictures will be solved. Maybe that book could be interested for one of the high quality print publisher like the Dawson book?

Jason, i think Markus is working further on it. That book will be a big task. So many smith, so many swords. I need it too.

Hi Daniel,

I am still trying to find more info on some of the obscure smiths and then have to go through final editing/layout but work has not stopped. Hope to get it out soon as well.

Any news? Now would be a good time reading a book.

There will be a physical book or just a database? I read there were too much data for a physical book.

I hope for names, mei and examples. It would be nice to have the schools, forgeries and smiths in it. Maybe some tales and stories would be fine too for example from the genyosha. So much room for wishes ????

@Markus Just wondering if there is any update on this project? Gendaito interest seems to be soaring and this would be a great time to launch a project like this.
Hopefully progress is continuing?

I would like to see a separate volume covering the time-frame of the 廃刀令 [Haitō Edict] to the end of the 大正 [Taishō] era (or possibly to the founding of 日本刀鍛錬会 at Yasukuni].  It was these craftsmen after all that kept the art alive and made the rapid expansion of sword production possible that occurred after 1934.  I for one would rather not see some of this material left out of the book and hence the suggestion for a separate volume.
