vajo Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 What you think about the quality of this sentoku kozuka with crayfish rat and a fish. Thanks Chris Quote
Geraint Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 Dear Chris. I find it hard to tell what the quality once was, this has had a hard life by the look of it. I think the question is, does it make you go , "Wow!" For me the answer is no. All the best. 1 Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 Agree with Geraint!! not bad but not the best!! Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 I am not a tosogu guy. I like the animals in this but somehow I don't like the "base". As I see that Ford is checking this out we might get more insight on it. Quote
Gunome Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 this kozuka looks like to have loss his patina. Too shiny. Quality is average. Quote
vajo Posted February 4, 2017 Author Report Posted February 4, 2017 Honestly saying, i like the motif very much and the scene. And i think to purchase the kozuka if its worth to restore it and i know a fair price. Quote
christianmalterre Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 this Lot ( auction lot or private?) is sorrowly VERY! much overcleaned.... but well ? i do like this motif, too- so if it´s cheap ? do take it and just enjoy...( better would be to give it to a professional so to let it restaurate in its lost patina and charm it once certainly possessed...not?) considdering the workmanship now.... a standard todays goldsmith does take 70-80.- Euro per hour... considdering this is a old thing + the modern guy certainly couldn´t do it ! ( do have an look on these modern metalwork "artists" spreading out like mushrooms...) i would buy it, if the seller is not exaggerating in his price estimation of course....? it is charming, it is nice- it is but ruined! of its past history.... what shall i say ? it is still vivid... 200.- 250.- Euros ????
