Selling my cherished shin-shinto Katana.

Year Made: 1800s
Forging Pattern: Itame
Tempering Pattern: Suguha with waves of nie and nioi
Dimensions: Blade Length: 27.9", Nakago: 9.6", Mihaba: 1 3/16", Sakihaba: 3/4", Kasane: 5/16", Sori: 3/8"  
Mountings: There is a gunto tsuba, sepa and tsuka, no saya. There is a one piece copper habaki in good condition that appears to have had a silver wash at one time.

Nice, long sword.
Has papers, but the mei was mistranslated at the Chicago Token Kai to read “Hiroshige” when it actually reads “Nagashige”. The gentlemen at the Tokyo NTHK Honbu Offie will gladly amend the mistake and re-issue a certificate once the papers are sent back to their headquarters at no cost. I can provide the info to contact them.

I’ve provided a recent photo of the kissaki which shows some recent damage the sword incurred due to someone mishandling it. The damage isn’t fatal, but will need a professional polisher’s touch. Other than that, The blade is in good, solid condition with no flaws except.  The polish is in decent condition. A fresh polish would make this blade a nice addition to anyone's collection. Or leave it as is, all the activity is visible in this condition.

I hate to see this blade go, but priorities are leaning in that direction.
