Looks like an oil tempered showato made for the iai market.  Well done nakago though.

 

Probably this guy (From Markus' index):

Nobumitsu (信光), Shwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – „Nobumitsu“ (信光), civilian name „SakShin ́ichi“ (佐光信一), born June 24th 1905, student of Kojima Katsumasa (小島勝正), he worked as guntsmith and died July 21st 1993

Thanks for you reply and information. The katana is listed as a "bring back" by the US. This topic may need to be moved as it is being offered for an asking price of 1400.00
