MDS5866 Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Evening, Just wanting to educate myself as to who or what this signature on a sword/katana means. Thank you, Mark Quote
MDS5866 Posted January 11, 2017 Author Report Posted January 11, 2017 Here are more details, in the form of scans, as to my question. This sword is being offered on another site and I would like the experienced opinion of the members of this site. Sorry that these are the best scans available at this time. Thanks in advance Mark Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Looks like an oil tempered showato made for the iai market. Well done nakago though. Probably this guy (From Markus' index): Nobumitsu (信光), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – „Nobumitsu“ (信光), civilian name „Sakō Shin ́ichi“ (佐光信一), born June 24th 1905, student of Kojima Katsumasa (小島勝正), he worked as guntō smith and died July 21st 1993 Quote
MDS5866 Posted January 11, 2017 Author Report Posted January 11, 2017 SGJ, Thanks for you reply and information. The katana is listed as a "bring back" by the US. This topic may need to be moved as it is being offered for an asking price of 1400.00 Mark Quote
