Death-Ace Posted January 9, 2017 Report Posted January 9, 2017 Hi guys! Take two with this sword. I apologize for the previous pics, but a fellow collector and friend (tokashikibob) was courteous and photographed the blade for me. So, without further ado, here is the wak! Measurements: Nagasa: 17.25 in Sori: 0.25 in Kissaki: 1.25 in Motokasane: 0.25 in Motohaba: 1.125 in Sakikasane: 0.75 in Sakihaba: 13/16 in Nakago: 4 7/8 in Hamon: Gunome Suguha Koshirae: Two piece silver foiled habaki. Bat themed gold plated copper shakudo fuchi and kashira. Shibuichi Tsuba with gold inlay copper plug covering kogai inlet. Rattan design saya with kozuka inlet. Blade: Looks to have quite a bit of "meat" left. I see about two areas of loose grain in the middle and a very tiny spot near the habaki. One spot of a delamination on the ji near the kissaki (omote). Suguha hamon with a spot of ko-notare near the habaki on the omote. Definitely o-suriage, with the remnants of yasurime noted. Looks like the nagasa was approximately three inches longer at one time. One neat little factor is a possible kirikomi near the hamachi that could have been a hakobore, requiring shortening. Spider rust and two tiny chips (one a half?) Neat little sword! Quote
tokashikibob Posted January 9, 2017 Report Posted January 9, 2017 A nice blade for the caped crusader's utility belt! Vintage Batman gear is a very hot market. Anybody know Adam West's email? Best Regards, Bob 1 Quote
tokashikibob Posted January 9, 2017 Report Posted January 9, 2017 Whats happened with that Fuchi? It looks like the artist took some initiative to make a distinctive mark. I was thinking it may be a bat but that does not fit. Not screwed with by a novice that is for sure. I was surprised Lev typed out a couple of forging points as I didn't see them the other day. I need glasses bad. Quote
Death-Ace Posted January 11, 2017 Author Report Posted January 11, 2017 Whats happened with that Fuchi? Definitely appears to have been like for quite a while judging by the marks its left on the tsuka. I've seen a similar one in the past. Maybe like Bob said or something to do with fit? Quote
