Nobody Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 I found interesting (or strange?) documents on the net. I do not know their background or if it is appropriate to introduce them here. :? The illustrations in the documents look like karuta (Japanese playing card) and are drawn as anime. However, the texts include descriptions about Nihonto and they are really serious. Unfortunately, the texts are written in Japanese. Each of the following files is a little less than 2 MB. http://homepage.mac.com/tsurugi_t/karuta1.pdf http://homepage.mac.com/tsurugi_t/karuta2.pdf Quote
Brian Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Moriyama san, You are right, that is very bizarre! I do love manga and anime, and yet this seems to be telling the history and basics of Nihonto using cute manga girls? I can't read it, but looks like they cover many subjects, and the way they are expressed is cute but strange. Take a look...I wish it was translated. Brian Quote
hybridfiat Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Very sweet! Especially the history of the sword. Thats the most interesting sharpening posi Ive seen for a Togi. Its'all a bit distracting. I concur that it would be a very interesting read if only it were translated....hint hint :D Quote
Gabriel L Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 That's... honestly one of the most unexpected and weird things I have ever seen in the world of nihonto. Not really complaining though. :-P Quote
Walter Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 It's VERY interesting and surely worth to be translated!!! Thank you for the links/ Quote
DirkO Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I used to collect anime cels (original drawings of the anime) and by the looks of it, these aren't done by the original artists, although there is a great resemblance. Japanese often use anime characters to praise things, but actually use cartoonfigures to learn things is new to me. On the other hand, karuta is often used to learn things in a playfull way in Japan, so it's not that weird. There are a lot of different anime series in there, and some of them don't even use nihonto.(although a lot of them do). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karuta Quote
