Bob in Ohio Posted December 9, 2016 Report Posted December 9, 2016 Here's a blade with WW2 fittings. I am trying to confirm it is an old blade, and anything close to it's approx. age. Sadly, no signature. The blade is 27.75", and the tang is 6.25". Any illumination you can provide is greatly appreciated! Thx/ Bob Quote
hxv Posted December 9, 2016 Report Posted December 9, 2016 Bob, It is genuine, but in rough shape. The area near the tip is badly rusted. I'm not positive it would polish out. Hoanh Quote

ROKUJURO Posted December 11, 2016 Report Posted December 11, 2016 I can see a heavy crack in the NAKAGO just below the MUNE MACHI, too. Quote
uwe Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 I can see a heavy crack in the NAKAGO just below the MUNE MACHI, too. I guess, that is what Bob was referring to. Another serious concern might be indeed the rust pit in the (missing) yokote area. Quote
Caleb Mok Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 If you happened to have purchased, rather than inherit, this sword, then there's a strong chance it is worthless ie has fatal flaw(s). My experience, confirmed by some Japanese sources, say that nowadays any sword found to have fatal flaws would be deliberately covered in rust and put into circulation. I apologize that i don't have better news - Caleb Quote
