RobertM Posted November 12, 2016 Report Posted November 12, 2016 Hi chaps, this is an unusual one of chidori birds that i picked up from a fellow board member a few years ago. Has anyone got an idea on school? I cant really place it. Unusually despite the design covering the seppa dai it does appear to be mounted at one time. May thanks Rob 1 Quote

GARY WORTHAM Posted November 12, 2016 Report Posted November 12, 2016 Was not really a fan of the chidori theme till I got this tsuba on a wonderful fully mounted Echizen Rai sword in all chidori theme fittings. Changed my mind. Just sharing. Quote
Michael 101 Posted November 13, 2016 Report Posted November 13, 2016 Hi Rob, Now that is a nice tsuba, good carving especially for iron. The carving over the seppa dai area is also interesting. Reminds me a little of some Hizen school work but its outside of my limited knowledge base. It will help to have some measurements to help promote other comments on a possible maker - height, width and thickness at the centre and edge if your able too. I have a nishigaki kanshiro soft metal example of the same design on the for sale section of the board but have seen others from nearly every school. Kindest regards Michael Quote
RobertM Posted November 13, 2016 Author Report Posted November 13, 2016 Hi Michael, X= 68mm Y= 72.4mm Z= 4.29mm Wgt = 99.6 gms. No noticible tapering from center to edge. Many thanks Quote
