Ontario_Archaeology Posted November 7, 2016 Report Posted November 7, 2016 I found this sword at an antique store in Stratford, it is my first buy. I looked at it as much as I could while in the store, did some research, and purchased it. After taking off the tsuka I am having my doubts. Maybe someone with more experience than me can let me know more about it. pictures here --> http://imgur.com/a/9rCpWand here --> http://imgur.com/a/mVuKZ Thank-you for your time Quote

Ken-Hawaii Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 First, please sign each post with at least your last name, per Brian's rules. Second, you show us nothing but the nakago (handle) & expect an answer? Please show us the entire blade, with nothing at all attached to it, & maybe we can give you an opinion. Welcome to the forum. Ontario_Archaeology Posted November 8, 2016 Author Report Posted November 8, 2016 Sorry, I will try and get better pictures up. I hope both albums worked/ were easy to access. Thank-you for your time, and the welcome. Matt. Quote
Curran Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 you show us nothing but the nakago (handle) & expect an answer? Please show us the entire blade His first link in his first post worked for me. There are blade photos there. I was actually looking for images of the nakago and didn't see he'd posted a link to them in his second post. Quote
hxv Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 Matt, The individual pieces of the mounts seem genuine, but they definitely do not belong together. It looks like they are put together on a blade of questionable origin. I suggest you invest in some books. You will be much happier in the long run. Hoanh Quote
Kai-Gunto Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 A crappy postwar put together sword. Officer shingunto with NCO scabbard.....etc. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 The photos of the NAKAGO already show that this blade was not made in Japan. 1 Quote
