Hello all. I spotted this and instanntly liked it. Comes with full IJN koshirae. Nagasa 69.2 or 27.3 inches so must of been a fair original size.

Dear Chris,

Like you I think this a very nice sword..  Midare utsuri according to the oshigata.  Placing of the mei suggests suriage but well finished nakago jiri.  O-kissaki, when and where would you think this was made?

Enjoy!

Dirk, picked it in one ! The blade is signed norinaga and aoi "believe" it to be the kaga one around 1460's, no guarantees but I do like the looks of it.

Hello Chris,

Its a signed attractive sword in good condition for 500 + years old. O Kissaki looks good too. Any Koshirae pics?

Are you thinking of picking it up?

Hello Greg. Yes I already have. Down to the waiting game now. Please see koshirae pics described as Japanese navy with an old(er) tsuba. The saya looks like lacquered timber and the ito is a little different !
