Gordon Sanders Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 New addition to my flat :-) Now all I need is a pair of swords to sit on top! 2 Quote
Greg F Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 Looks good Gordon. A scroll or two on the wall would look good too, especially with your swords up. All the best. Greg 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 No, no, you're unclear on the concept, Gordon. The swords go inside the katanadansu! Ken 1 Quote
Gordon Sanders Posted September 30, 2016 Author Report Posted September 30, 2016 Hahah. Ok. I will remember that.. but first I need the keys Quote
Geraint Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 You have already got a Sori Yanagi daisho, or are they gimei? All the best. 2 Quote

Gordon Sanders Posted October 4, 2016 Author Report Posted October 4, 2016 Amazing what a little of Beeswax can do!! Quote
Brian Posted October 4, 2016 Report Posted October 4, 2016 This may be of some interest, even though it goes back a few years:http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/7086-katanadansu-locksmith/ Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 4, 2016 Report Posted October 4, 2016 Ha! I never did find any keys for mine, Brian, & quit worrying about locking it up long ago. It finally dawned on me that the whole thing could be picked up & carried off, so now I store my valuable blades in my big vault, & insure the rest of them "just in case." Nice work with the beeswax, Gordon - not sure the surface of my tansu is in good enough shape to benefit from that level of care. Ken Quote

I saw it earlier , and when I bought the tansu, i got a set of keys. They don't work in the locks, but I was surprised how delicate the looked. The Katanadansu came "unlocked" so that was more of a joke. An interesting thing I noticed, though: My handles are square stock and squared at the corners also. This is not something that I have seen on any of the examples of tansu that anyone has posted. Zoom in on my pics to see what I am referring to. Does this indicate a region that it was made? Quote
