Red Sun Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Hello all, I joined a week or so ago and have found a lot of threads very informative and enjoyable (Particularly the Bizen morning thread, nice touch!) I am based in the UK and have about a dozen swords in my collection, but consider myself still a novice in terms of knowledge. I am unlikely to be a prolific poster (not my manner) but by way of introduction I am asking if anybody has any information on a swordsmith named Harumitsu. As far as I know he was only active for a short time (Bunkyo Era), I presume his career was cut short by the sword ban. As much as the swords I like to learn about the maker and can find little about this man. If anybody else has a sword by this maker and can share pics or be willing to sell i would be very interested. Regards Red Neil M. Quote
DirkO Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Hi Neil and welcome! There were several swordsmiths with that name - here's an extract from Markus Sesko's book: Quote
Red Sun Posted August 31, 2016 Author Report Posted August 31, 2016 Thats great thanks -- I had trouble finding anything other than the earlier more well known smiths, but student of Mito Sukemitsu makes sense to me and gives me a much better starting point. Thanks. I will have to check out that book as well. Red Neil M. Quote
DirkO Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Markus Sesko is a translator and he did tremendous work for our collecting field:https://www.lulu.com/shop/search.ep?keyWords=markus+sesko&type= Quote
