This Peach-shaped kabuto IS made from 4 iron plates the neck guard with 5 plates. .This helmet is with A Lacquered-Iron Mempo . Can someone nevertheless provide an opinion about period ?The information I have founf about this type of kabuto is Momoyama period so late 16 th -17th century . Best regards From France CERJAK Quote
uwe Posted August 24, 2016 Report Posted August 24, 2016 Hi Cerjak, Momonari kabuto emerged in the late Sengoku period and became widespread during the subsequent decades. The form was kept until the Meiji times. It is said, that the shape derived from an European helmet, the Cabasset or "Birnhelm". But there is no proof so far.
