svarsh Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 I would be most grateful if the members enlighten me regarding the material and technique, as well as help me with possible period and school attribution of the piece. Thank you. Sergei Quote
nagamaki - Franco Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 Hello Sergei, Is it possible to see images of the inside of both pieces as well as the tenjogane (face plate fuchi)? Thank you. Quote
John A Stuart Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 I think the stone is lapis lazuli. John Quote
Jean Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 I don't think so John. Lapiz lazuli is dark blue with felspath and pyrite. My wife says jade and I was thinking turquoise... Quote
Stephen Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 other stone is pink topaz, leaning to Blue Howlite on other Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 Putting my Jewellers hat on for a brief moment, difficult to make out from the images. The pale blue stone has the luminescence of Chrysoprase, which is a form of Chalcedony. The clearer stone could be White Sapphire or Rose Quartz. Pip Pip Quote
nagamaki - Franco Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Hello, Thank you for posting additional images. Cool set, like the composition. Fuchi insert is really neat, well done. Blue stone, need to research more [Feldspar perhaps???], for the rose colored stone it could be coral. My guess, for what little it's worth, would be Owari school. Ken-Hawaii Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 The shininess looks like opalization to me, although Malcolm's chrysoprase is another possibility. Rather an unusual F/K, but very nicely done, Sergei. Good find! Ken Quote
