I am sure you know this but I suspect that Uwe is pointing out that this is a modern reproduction 'pocket filler', not a genuine kogatana.  Interesting way the mei is made.

Thank you very much for the translation and explanations!

 

I noticed that the "kogatana" looks suspiciously new and that the hamaon and signature are etched. So I suspected it is a new item, but wasn't sure.
