sure wish i had a co buyer, my guess this is a good Bizen school smith, maybe Nagamitsu? or a Yoshimune ??   the mind wonders...lol

 

alas i cant bid wishes,,,i am registered...sigh...tsuka has mon....sigh....clean gunto flipper for sure if it goes low

It would be a crap shoot if not seen in hand, gendito be my guess, think your reading things in your mind if you see ware, well never know unless i hit the lotto tonight.

Huh. Interesting. I'd bet gendaito. Yes on bizen den and Nagamitsu is a solid guess. Could be damn near anyone, but the sugata and kissaki match Nagamitsu and the hamon sure could be as well. I know it's a weak kantei point but every Nagamitsu that I've seen has a similar look to the habaki, very much like the one on this sword. Doesn't mean it is Nagamitsu, but if I were a betting man, I'd bet that it is.

Doubt it matters. Just about every sword I have seen on RIA went for double what it should have. Uneducated (Nihonto-wise) Militaria collectors just wanting a "Samurai sword" and considering the prices of the guns, the buyers have money to toss around and don't mind throwing a few thou at a sword. Let's see if I am wrong. I bet $2500+

Never saw such a nice condition for that price. The sword koshirae looks like coming direct from the smith...

17.5% buyers premium, so it went for $2115. Not cheap...there have been decent Gendaito here for that price.

minor correction moot but it sold for 1700 1800 to out bid, wont know if a 1900 would have come.

 

premium is 15% if you pick it up and pay by check, we would have been in for 2070, which leaves a lot of ifs condition, signed by who ect.
