kneffr Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 I have a Nihonto Disho that dates back to the 1600s. I had the tsuka re-wrapped about 10 years ago and lately, the tsuba has become a bit loose. It doesn't really bother me, I was just wondering if its common (I think it is) and whether or not its anything to be concerned about. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Welcome to the forum, but please sign all of your posts with at least your first name, per Brian's rules. Look up "seppa," which are used for exactly the purpose of tightening things up on a blade. BTW, your blades are a daisho (dai=large blade, short for daito; sho=small, short for shoto). Ken Quote
Greg F Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Hi and welcome. If an extra brass seppa doesnt fit well another option is leather seppa. Use existing seppa as a stencil then cut it out. If done neatiy it can be effective. Good luck. Greg Quote
