manfrommagnum Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 I would like to get fuchi kashira and menuki to go with a tsuba. Any recommendations on who could make top notch shinsakuto fittings? Pattern is similar to this. http://www.aoijapan.com/fuchi-kashira-mumei-plant-design Mike Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Obvious answers are Ford, Kevin, and other members here. You could also contact Paul Martin about commissioning a set in Japan. Quote
Ford Hallam Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 No obvious answers here, . I would hesitate to tackle such a demanding copy and I very much doubt you'll find anyone in Japan experienced in this type of work or working even at this level of fairly generic Edo period work. Has anyone seen inlay work as delicate as that gold fence, done in modern times? Bare in mind the fuchi is probably around 12mm high, which would make the fence only a couple of millimetres high. 2 Quote
manfrommagnum Posted August 5, 2016 Author Report Posted August 5, 2016 Roman says he can do it. I need them shinsakuto size, so about 42mm or so with a 33mm nakago ana. 1 Quote

nagamaki - Franco Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 Greetings, Even if an artist capable and willing were found to make this f/k imaged, by the time all the hours were added up in addition to the cost of materials one would almost for certain come out much farther ahead simply finding a made set. And to answer the question Brian Tschernega is certainly capable. Quote
manfrommagnum Posted August 5, 2016 Author Report Posted August 5, 2016 Since I am trying to mount it on a Shinsakuto without making it look like a dwarfs head on Arnold Schwarzenegger's body, I think I need something bigger than what is available from the antique pool. Quote
manfrommagnum Posted August 5, 2016 Author Report Posted August 5, 2016 Ill look Brian up. Thanks for the info! Quote
c2tcardin Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Is this for the utsushi Kiyomaro shinsakuto or another project? Quote
manfrommagnum Posted August 25, 2016 Author Report Posted August 25, 2016 Yes. Your former blade. I have 3 tsuba options for it. Quote
