Geraint Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Hi Josh. So much information out there about this school and many knowledgeable people here who can tell you if it looks good or not, reason being they are very many gimei. This mei is a great place to start learning how to read kanji and once you have got this one the others will start to fall into place a little. Check it out with some kanji tables and once you have it you will start to recognize the common ones on other mei. Pictures of the whole blade would help even if it is not in first class polish. Enjoy! Quote
hockeydad Posted July 25, 2016 Author Report Posted July 25, 2016 Thanks a lot. That would be great to learn. Quote
hockeydad Posted July 25, 2016 Author Report Posted July 25, 2016 Thank a bunch, I'd really like to learn. Quote
Geraint Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Hi Josh. The place to start might be this one, http://www.hizento.net/history.htm The author is a real mine of information on the Hizen school. Another thing would be to get a copy of Art and the Sword, vol1 I think, focuses on the same school. You are aware that there are some serious problems with the flaws in the boshi? Enjoy the journey. Stephen Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 everything was looking rosy till the kissaki,,,,dam shame. least your being able to find true Nihonto, your advancing ...time for book work Josh Quote
hockeydad Posted July 25, 2016 Author Report Posted July 25, 2016 How bad does that hurt the value? I know it's bad but are we talking price decrease by 50 percent? Quote
Stephen Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Todogu pix in order...they can save the day...and at times be worth more than the investment Quote
Stephen Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 Dont see any comments on blade condition, it looks healthy till the kissake then it looks like part might chip off if messed with. so guys what do you think? a man with money to burn, takes it to a trained togi, request him to change the blade to shobu zukuri, that is if the mei is shoshin that would mess with the experts in 2116...lol! Stephen Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 time warp, i got it done and came back to show ya how it turned out http://www.aoijapan.com/wakizashi-hizen-kuni-tadayoshi Quote
Brian Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 For some reason, can't explain why, shobu zukuri is a big turn off for me. Can maybe handle it in nagamaki, and love naginata....but a wakizashi or katana in that shape just turns me off completely. 1 Quote
Stephen Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 Just the opposit Edit to add..in wak love it...katana NO! Quote
