Ok, I don't normally post these strange ones here, but I just found this one very odd: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pre-WWII-Japanese-D ... dZViewItem

The seller clearly states "I have had a lot of request to remove the handle and insure its signed on the tang. I don't want to risk damaging the handle..." and then goes on to picture a tsuka that has been removed but no nakago pics? Also states that the tsuba is signed, but you can't see that unless the tsuka has been removed. Hmm... A guarantee that it is signed means nothing if the signature is less than desirable or the nakago is ruined. Discression advised.

A very dumb nut! I am asking myself how stupid I have to be to believe all these stories of veteran bringbacks and especially in this case, I mean it is clearly visible that the tsuka is removed in the right upper corner. So I am 100% sure that the tang is destroyed by using a grinder!

this is what he sent me asking about the very Q Brian did.

I am selling this sword on consignment and know nothing about swords. The sword is in my possession with the handle on itl. I used photos and description supplied byh the owner. He will guarantee its pre 45 and that the tang is signed or your money will be refunded by me including postage. Check my feedback. Sorry for any confusion.

take it with a grain of salt.....say a salt block!
