Stephen Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Complete novice on this, how does the cord keep feeding forward, pulling with fingers? Quote
PauDee Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 This was a shot with patch and ball , and I was amaised how fast it was . If you look at the second image of Sai Jo Saku it looks like the slowmatch is making an arch towards the primer . I want to shoot it at the World championships in Hungaria . Quote
IanB Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Paul, People do not realise just how efficient early ignition systems were. I have fired matchlock, wheel lock, flintlock and percussion cap guns and they are all pretty fast, with probably the flintlock having the longest delay. Ian Bottomley Quote
PauDee Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 In my experiance air temparture is of influence , at 25 degrees C it is just as fast as percussion if the tempartures go higher it gets scarry , some times I wondred if I had pulled the trigger at al , if tempartures drop below frezingpoint it is a fraction slower . Brian Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Stephen, the match is extremely slow burning, so not needed to re-position it for quite a while. Yes, it is manually moved. 1 Quote
Bazza Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 Paulus, I LOVE IT - and the background drum and reloading activity too. Thanks for putting it up. Looks like a really good day. There is one day a year here in Victoria, Australia, where people dress up in period costume and fire cannon and mortars http://www.95thriflesaustralia.com/events/taminick Best regards, BaZZa. Quote
