Hello

I purchased this sword. Claimed to be from the Edo period late 1600s. Can anyone help me verify if this blade is genuine. Also added the small ornate copper knife that came with it. Thank you!post-3745-0-13232500-1467768498_thumb.jpegpost-3745-0-05214800-1467768541_thumb.jpegpost-3745-0-13049700-1467768608_thumb.jpegpost-3745-0-70790600-1467768620_thumb.jpeg

There is a possibility that the "knife" (= KOGATANA, the handle is called KOZUKA) is not copper, but an alloy (SHAKUDO), which has been stripped of its patina. It can be restored by specialists (Ford Hallam).

Thanks to everyone for their input and information, I hope the sword is a real Tadahiro. I am a beginning collector and would like to learn anything I can. Please discuss over this sword as much as possible I am trying to soak up any knowledge I can.

The mei is not correct, is it? On the sword. I did a quick search the other night and could not find where he signed this way.

After doing some research (very limited) I was not able to match this mei with any others on records. I am having a feeling it is a gimei.
