shibeni Posted July 6, 2016 Author Report Posted July 6, 2016 Just want to be 100% that everything is ok. with the blade construction before buying. Bojan Quote
Jim P Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 Hi Bojan, This is one type of Naginata hi if you have a look on google you will find them second groove is OK 1 Quote
shibeni Posted July 6, 2016 Author Report Posted July 6, 2016 Thank you Jim, I realy did't saw any with the second groove in Naginata naoshi style Wakizaski like on this (kuichigai-ba?- but it is diferent). The blade is Shinto with Hozon. Bojan Quote
Jim P Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 Hi Bojan,You will see some with a second Hi some with one Hi, I have see them with red lacquer in the second groove and some without have a look at the pic I grabbed from google it has one Quote
shibeni Posted July 6, 2016 Author Report Posted July 6, 2016 I just feel un safe because of the second groove..For me it was strange for Naginata naoshi style of blade..but as Shinto blade pass Hozon..it my be nothing wrong with it.. Bojan Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 It looks fine. It's not typical but you see them around from time to time. Some appear to be added later to obscure flaws in the sword, but yours appears to have been made like that deliberately. Just my opinion. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 If this wakizashi is naginata naoshi, wouldn't the 2nd hi have to be ato-bori (not original)? Otherwise it would run off the back of the shinogi-ji. Grey Quote
Jim P Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 Hi, Its a bit hard to tell if the Hi is ato-bori with those Pics but I don't think it matters much ? it looks like a late shinto revival piece. Quote
shibeni Posted July 6, 2016 Author Report Posted July 6, 2016 It's this sword which is on Hold.. http://www.japanszwaard.nl/uk/zwaarden.html Regards, Bojan Quote
Jim P Posted July 7, 2016 Report Posted July 7, 2016 Hi Bojan, I think you have done well, Nice Wakizashi Quote
Geraint Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 Hi Bojan. No problems with this one in fact I envy you! This was made as a wakizashi in this form so there is no issue about the hi running off or not as there would be if it was a repurposed naginata. Shigetaka seems to have made something of a speciality of this form of wakizashi. If you are interested I can send you an oshigata of one I have. Enjoy. All the best Quote
shibeni Posted July 11, 2016 Author Report Posted July 11, 2016 Hello Geraint, I would be happy if you can send me your Oshigata. And thank you for comment. Best regards, Bojan Quote
shibeni Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 Nice, look's like shodai mei, hard to see details in some kanjis from Oshigata... I studied diferent mei Shodai and Nidai, but I still did't find right formula to know specific caracterostics, on both mei. Shodai has also nicer writting than Nidai. Thank you and begards, Bojan Quote
