Darcy Posted June 17, 2016 Report Posted June 17, 2016 I completed about three weeks of 10 hour days begging and pleading with everyone (even NMB) for good related dragon stuff. Going to post it as it arrives. This is a tsuba attributed to Goto Mitsutaka (Goto Enjo). Made probably around 1750 then, he is the guy who increasingly made tsuba in the Goto family and did most of the major attributions which are now used by the NBTHK in sorting out the earlier generations. Not for sale as it's going into a project. I am not a big iron guy as is probably known (but I will post something a bit later). This kind of thing is right up my alley though. EDIT: Trying to fix the high res link, can't see the junk at the end of the text in the editor.. http://nihonto.ca/goto-mitsutaka-l.jpg 9 Quote

vajo Posted June 18, 2016 Report Posted June 18, 2016 Very nice Tsuba Darcy. I hope i have one to show it in such a great thread. I can only Quote
Guido Posted June 18, 2016 Report Posted June 18, 2016 Barry's hint seems to have gone unnoticed (with one exception). We're going from *porn* to *I have a wiener, too!*. Again. 1 Quote

Sorry for presenting my taste. I delete it now. I hope i didn't disturb anyone with my "nice" Tsuba. I hope i can purchase someday a NICE Tsuba to share it with you. Take care all Regards Chris Quote
Brian Posted June 18, 2016 Report Posted June 18, 2016 With all due respect guys, Darcy is presenting the highest level of fittings here. If people want to show their dragon fittings, then a new thread would be appropriate.Otherwise, let's showcase fittings at the same level of what he showed. That means museum quality stuff, not hundreds of $'s, but many thousands. So far, only James' comes close. Not to say the other fittings here aren't nice. But there is nice, and then there is NICE. Think the difference is pretty obvious. 2 Quote
Greg F Posted June 19, 2016 Report Posted June 19, 2016 Darcy thanks for showing us such a beautiful piece, love to see more pics as ive spent plenty of time staring at this one. Outstanding!!! Cheers. Greg Quote
christianmalterre Posted June 27, 2016 Report Posted June 27, 2016 in my personal "porn" i certainly do not need a dragon.. a Dragon shall and does represent: a dream and "spheric" "allknowing" but never to ben reached "wiseness".... he/she got send by the goods and is a messsenger! certainly no primitive (as you say) "PORN"! me Quote
raiden Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 These have been seen, but are good for this topic. Good examples from the Mito Kinko school. One is Juyo with matching mount. 2 Quote
Stephen Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 Youll have to knock over a museum for this one, for those who havent seen it. 3 Quote
toukerb Posted November 22, 2017 Report Posted November 22, 2017 Hello Darcy, I'm not sure that this tsuba is up to the correct level, as I am a newbie in this area, but thought I might risk it. It is part of the koshirae of a wakizashi I purchased recently. Nice nanako (also around the edge of the tsuba) and high relief gold zogan. Any thoughts you might have as to school/age/etc would be appreciated. :=) Marc Quote
Ed Posted November 23, 2017 Report Posted November 23, 2017 Marc, Even a newbie should be able to see your tsuba is nowhere close, not even in the same country as the one Darcy posted. 1 Quote
