Prewar70 Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 Who would you recommend in the states to have these made and does anyone do both? Quote

nagamaki - Franco Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 Brian Tschernega or John Tirado. Either will do both. 1 Quote
Heringsdorf Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 I highly recommend John Tirado. He just made an Ireko shirasaya and two piece habaki for me which turned out amazing. Quote
Peter Bleed Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 I can only add to what has been said Brian and John are terrific. One could wish that they were under-utilized worker bees who do nothing but grind out what we want. Working with them involves a wait. Simple shira-saya should NOT be that big a deal - it sure isn't in Japan so I recently tried to explore some other options and I was VERY disappointed. A bad shira-saya really does NOT work. Go with Tirado, and be patient!. Peter Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 Great tip regardless of the craftsmen involved. The best stay busy because they are worth the cost and wait. Quote
Heringsdorf Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 I had to wait one year to get my sword back from Tirado. But it was definitely worth the wait. Quote
