kuromido Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 Hi guys , I'm a little stumped with this one. Possibly etchizen? Also if anybody knows where I might find this smith, I would appreciate it . I have tried , oshigata, tokotaikan, gendai Meikan. Thanks , P Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 It's Goto Kanehiro http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/oshigata/kanehiro.jpg Quote

kuromido Posted June 1, 2016 Author Report Posted June 1, 2016 I thought I would post these two side-by-side. Is this a good example of how different two mei can be of the same Smith or is it more likely that it was cut by someone else? Once again thanks, PeterD Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 Same smith, different mei carver. Seki pumped out thousands of swords for the war effort and to support the demand they had at least one individual whose primary job was to sign swords on behalf of the smith. There are examples in Slough's but I don't have it handy. Search google for him "Goto Kanehiro sword" and then "刀 後藤兼廣" including the quotes. He made a bunch of swords and you're likely to find a few examples. Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 The term was escaping me for a moment but it's Nakirishi mei. http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/promei.htm Quote
