Dear All,

I have just won this wakizashi (thanks, Jean for pointing out it that it is slightly machi okuri). The seller is unknown, no feedback on sword deals, but, being a stupid beginner who relies on his gut-feel, I have decided to take the risk. I know, I should have asked before I decided to bid...

Now I would like to ask your opinion about the blade and the papers. Was this a good deal or have I , hm... overreacted?

Hi Mariusz,

have you been able to see more (high resolution) pictures before you placed your bid?

cheers,

no, unfortunatelly. Any serious kizu?

Nice sword I thought that was by far the best of the lot. He's not quite an unknown seller, he sells on bidders in Japan.

I think you've done well!

Some Info:

TADASHIGE IKUTAMA NO SHÔ [KANBUN 1661 SETTSU] SHINTÔ CHÛSAKU

He was a pupil of shodai Tadayuki, and he also produced in Edo.

Signature: SESSHU IKUTAMA NO SHÔ INOUE FUJIWARA TADASHIGE

I think you did well. Nice looking sword, very active and interesting hamon, in polish with papers (yet another of the small organisations/dealers I think?) and showing nice hada. The photos are reasonably high res too, don't think you could have asked for more. All for just over $2K?

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Hello,

thanks a lot for your feedback :-) You have confirmed a beginner's gut-feel and I am very encouraged by your positive assessment of this blade.

What would I do without the NMB? SO good you are here, always willing to help and teach :-)

Thanks a lot and best regards :-)

Sorry Mariusz,

I opened the auction link via megaproxy.com and only one picture was shown... (the sword in whole without details).

So I thought that was the only picture you saw to make you decision - and therefore asked the question above :)

Obviously there were other high resolution pictures then :)

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

best of luck,
