Some pretty top notch reproduction parts from China. I'm genuinely quite impressed with these. While I don't get the best resolution on the tablet, these look to be pretty detailed and correct. Certainly copied from a sword someone greedily sold to China. Much cheaper than the real thing. I expect to see a few older and incomplete swords patched up with these.

 It would be interesting to see them in the hand, my experience with Chinese copies is that they fall down on details, or are even made of plated zinc alloy to pass as brass, copper or steel.

There is a seller from China that makes a really impressive replica of the type 98, it sells for about the $300 mark from memory.

His listing shows up every now and then, if i see it again, i will link/post it here. It is by far the closest to the real thing i've seen.

The details from the replica i mentioned are very good. I agree in the past that it was their downfall, but not now..

Had a quick look, couldn't find the exact one i mentioned... over 10000 listings!!

This one is pretty close with good detail.  Price is a lot more than i seen before.

The Japanese Army was in China for many years before they surrendered. I'm sure there are actually quite a few genuine swords that were surrendered or captured there.

I have five unique Typ98 and they look much better than this replic. Why to buy a fake sword - i didn't understand.

Incredible accuracy! But they still puzzle me - why go to all that effort to manufacture something that well and still not pay attention to simple detail like the color of the paint?
