manfrommagnum Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 I am working on yet another sword project and need some help. I want an idea of what FK fittings would look like from 1550-1600 that were made for samurai in the domains of Omura, Higo, Bungo, Hirado, Arima, or Otomo. Please post some pictures if you have something from that era and location (s). Thanks! Mike Quote
brannow Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 Hi Mike, Not sure if he is a member here but Woody Hall has some nice sets for sale right now. If your on facebook you can contact him there. Quote
Geraint Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 Dear Mike. Have a look at this, http://www.nihonto.com/abtartuchigatanakoshirae.html If you are going for this style then plain and simple is the way to go. Any search for Tensho koshirae wil yield many results but as always not all are to be taken seriously. Enjoy. Quote

Alex A Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 ^^^ Great book, and you wont find many (if any) at that price. Quote
Alex A Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 Mike, heres a few pics of what your looking for, the fuchi are iron or soft metal (not easy to find one short in height), the kashira is usually made from horn. Tsuba, ko-katchushi, ko-tosho, ko-kinko to name a few. 1 Quote
rkg Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 Wow - that's a good deal on that book - Grey's price is less than half of what I paid for my copy back in the day.... It is pure koshirae porn - in addition to the overall koshirae, they include numerous images of the various pieces that went into the koshirae - they don't leave much to the imagination :-) rkg http://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com/store/books/b734-uchigatana-koshirae-translation-tokyo-national-museumThis as the go to book on early koshirae. 1 Quote
