Wow, I realize, like Fuller of F&G said, there are exceptions to every rule. This is one of them. I've never seen one with the arsenal and manufacturer stamps in that order. They are normally the other way (pics below). Also, the Kokura stamp on the blade is on the wrong side. The blade and saya look correct and the tsuba is fatter than normal, but F&G has one like that too.

Overall, I'd say this is legit and just stamped by an inspector with dislexia! I paid $2,400 for mine!

I also have one of my  Type 95's with the logos in reverse order.

Bruce, your fuchi appears to be made of brass?? can you confirm pls?

Stegel, I'm on the road, hoping to be home late tonight, and I'll take a closer look at it. Here's a couple more pics I have on my tablet. One looks like copper but in the other shot, it looks brass, maybe with copper coating?

I was looking at the auction too.. Crazy prices on ebay sometimes. Especially with the repainted scabbard. I like military swords, but I can't justify 4K on a NCO sword.

It is still a very rare sword that is matching , when was the last time you saw one for sale and the old paint is easly taken off to the original finish, I say a good buy!!

my be the last one you see sold for many... many, years!!

The examples I've seen in person and in the Dawson and Fuller books the brass plug on end is not painted over. The NCO one on ebay was painted over, so when it was painted over is up for debate.

I agree, this one has been painted over, however, originally these had a primer applied to the base metal before the OD was applied. The brass plugs were also painted over.  I have one with almost mint paint on the scabbard, here's the picture for your interest.

1K OVER   my guess, is this a record??    4009$!!!!

I thought you're guess was pretty accurate, but.... well, every now and then a surprise pops up. I don't think it is a record though, about 2 yrs back a couple of Copper NCO's went for 3500 and 4200.

A fellow i know sold one for US $6,433.70.....but it was a 2 digit and numbers matching!

I suppose it's a combination of  1- Availability  2- Desirability,  and enough of #2  on the day!!

Fred, i'm a little confused,  from what i can see, NO one disputed the fact that it had a brass end...... only that the scabbard was painted over.

I wasn't saying anything was wrong with the brass plug or the sword only the paint possibly. I've heard this sword is off to China. Can anyone confirm this?

I've gotten a close look at that fuchi. Comparing it to the clearly brass habaki and the copper handle, I'd say it looks more like copper than brass.

So did anyone see that auction finish today for the copper handle NCO for around $5260 AU ?

The second link is to a fake from China/India, i'm a bit surprised that the seller didn't ID it as such.

I can see a refund coming if the buyer is quick enough

The copper handled one is interesting, 2 other bidders eventually pushed up the buyer to almost double his bid in the last minute...

it would be a bit disheartening, but he must of wanted it bad
