Julian Posted April 27, 2016 Author Report Posted April 27, 2016 This one i think is a true firts model and the scabbard fit as descrive on the website you link Stephen but i think this one as be repaint ? i dont know what the final price gonna be but im guessing near 2k http://www.ebay.com/itm/162049285590?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Quote
Stephen Posted April 27, 2016 Report Posted April 27, 2016 Its a good one, my guess well over 3K, matching low number, really nice! 1 Quote
Julian Posted April 27, 2016 Author Report Posted April 27, 2016 oh yaaa you think over 3k wow that a high price for a machine made blade but yes it look very good and it rare so we gonna see soon how much a collectionner want to pay for this one thks Stephen have a great day Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted April 28, 2016 Report Posted April 28, 2016 Wow, I realize, like Fuller of F&G said, there are exceptions to every rule. This is one of them. I've never seen one with the arsenal and manufacturer stamps in that order. They are normally the other way (pics below). Also, the Kokura stamp on the blade is on the wrong side. The blade and saya look correct and the tsuba is fatter than normal, but F&G has one like that too. Overall, I'd say this is legit and just stamped by an inspector with dislexia! I paid $2,400 for mine! 1 Quote
vajo Posted April 28, 2016 Report Posted April 28, 2016 http://www.ebay.com/itm/162049285590?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Looks amazing. Such nice condition. That will be very expensive. Bruce you have also a very nice one. Congrats. 2 Quote
Stegel Posted April 28, 2016 Report Posted April 28, 2016 I also have one of my Type 95's with the logos in reverse order. Bruce, your fuchi appears to be made of brass?? can you confirm pls? Quote

Here's a couple more pics I have on my tablet. One looks like copper but in the other shot, it looks brass, maybe with copper coating? Quote

Stephen Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 1K OVER my guess, is this a record?? 4009$!!!! 1 Quote
charlie1 Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 I was looking at the auction too.. Crazy prices on ebay sometimes. Especially with the repainted scabbard. I like military swords, but I can't justify 4K on a NCO sword. charlie Quote
Fred Geyer Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 It is still a very rare sword that is matching , when was the last time you saw one for sale and the old paint is easly taken off to the original finish, I say a good buy!! my be the last one you see sold for many... many, years!! Quote
charlie1 Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 The examples I've seen in person and in the Dawson and Fuller books the brass plug on end is not painted over. The NCO one on ebay was painted over, so when it was painted over is up for debate. Quote

I agree, this one has been painted over, however, originally these had a primer applied to the base metal before the OD was applied. The brass plugs were also painted over. I have one with almost mint paint on the scabbard, here's the picture for your interest. Quote

I thought you're guess was pretty accurate, but.... well, every now and then a surprise pops up. I don't think it is a record though, about 2 yrs back a couple of Copper NCO's went for 3500 and 4200. A fellow i know sold one for US $6,433.70.....but it was a 2 digit and numbers matching! I suppose it's a combination of 1- Availability 2- Desirability, and enough of #2 on the day!! Found the add: Quote Item number: 330601997595 Japanese SWORD NCO COPPER HANDLED EXCEPTIONALLY RARE LOW NUMBER Item condition: Used Ended: Aug 16, 2011 05:41:27 PDT Sold For: AU $6,500.00 1 bid Approximately US $6,433.70 Shipping: AU $50.00(approx. Fred Geyer Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 NONE of you must be looking at the photos it has a brass plug on the end ..it is 1090% right , you shoulnt NOT comment if you do not look and study . Fred Quote
Stegel Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Fred, i'm a little confused, from what i can see, NO one disputed the fact that it had a brass end...... only that the scabbard was painted over. 1 Quote
Fred Geyer Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 I think if you read above I see some cheap statements by people Fred Quote
charlie1 Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 I wasn't saying anything was wrong with the brass plug or the sword only the paint possibly. I've heard this sword is off to China. Can anyone confirm this? Quote

Comparing it to the clearly brass habaki and the copper handle, I'd say it looks more like copper than brass. Quote
Stegel Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Thanks for the reply Bruce, it looked interesting enough to ask about. Cheers 1 Quote
The_ozzy_samurai Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 So did anyone see that auction finish today for the copper handle NCO for around $5260 AU ? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162049285590?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT or this NCO sword, correct me if im wrong it seem's just a little odd http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322087263618?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Quote
Stegel Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 The second link is to a fake from China/India, i'm a bit surprised that the seller didn't ID it as such. I can see a refund coming if the buyer is quick enough The copper handled one is interesting, 2 other bidders eventually pushed up the buyer to almost double his bid in the last minute... it would be a bit disheartening, but he must of wanted it bad Quote
