Grey Doffin Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Can any of you kindly translate into Romanji the title and author/s of this book? Appreciate it. Thanks Grey Quote
Pete Klein Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Grey -- I am wondering if this is the same as this book: Aito Hyakka sen E. Hayashi koge 1972 ? Quote
sencho Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Grey. title says "AITO HYAKKA SEN" I guess translation would be "hundred favorite nihonto" left hand name is YAGI AKIRA i think..... the others are tough as there is a lot of possibilities as far as I can see... Cheers Quote
sencho Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 actually as Pete says - Hayashi is the far right name..... 林 Cheers Quote
Pete Klein Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 I think this is a book on fittings as I found it referenced as such on a book site. Maybe on tsuba? Quote
sencho Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 But Pete, Doesn't title literally say... AI (favourite) TO (swords) Hyakka (hundred) SEN (chosen) I think it is One Hundred Favourite Swords as chosen by the editors of the book.... But then again I see the reference in the kodogu section of koshoyama, so I could be wrong... Cheers.... Quote
Nobody Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Title: 愛刀百華選 (Aito Hyakka-sen) Aito – favorite swords Hyakka – hundred flowers ---> various Sen - selection Authors: (I could be wrong in readings of some names.) 林 盈六 (Hayashi Eiroku) 大野 正 (Ohno Tadashi) 新 市郎 (? Ichiro) – I do not know the correct reading for 新 as a family name. It could be Atarashi, Arata, Shin, or Nii. 八木 昭 (Yagi Akira) Quote
Grey Doffin Posted November 23, 2007 Author Report Posted November 23, 2007 Thanks to all of you. It is a sword book and it will be available very soon. Watch the buy, sell, trade section for a list of about 40 sword and kodogu books I have to sell. Grey Quote
DirkO Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 ow and this with X-mas coming up, some nihontobooks are just what I need to put on my list Quote
Pete Klein Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Sencho -- it was the Koshoyama listing that threw me off. It didn't make sense to me either but then I'm not proficient in Japanese so wasn't certain if there was something I was missing in the writing below the title -- which was the authors. Oh well. Quote
sencho Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Hey Pete, I had the same confusion, mate and I too am not particularly proficient either, so I was starting to doubt my ability due to the Koshoyama listing.... had to bring the missus in on that one to clarify.... (and then take all the credit!!! ) by the way, Grey... what are the dimensions of that book??? Cheers Quote
Grey Doffin Posted November 24, 2007 Author Report Posted November 24, 2007 6 1/4 x 8 1/2", 208 pages. I hope to post the book list tomorrow. Grey Quote
