Thierry BERNARD Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 I have a little sword a ko-wakizashi or possibly boys sword signed Tatara Nagayuki Nagasa : 34 cm Sori : 1.2 cm Kasane : 0.5 cm I think it's a gimei but i'd like to know more about it Does anyone have any example oshigata of Nagayuki!! Any thoughts? Quote
Jacques Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Hi Thierry, Nakago jiri (kurijiri) and yasurime (not so deep) don't match. I have some oshigata that i will post tomorrow. Quote
Gordon Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Hi, No, this signature is not right. It does look like a boy's sword. There are oshigata in Fujishiro's as well as Nihonto Zuikan. Gordon Quote
Rich T Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 hamon is familiar, I think there is a late Bizen smith that worked in this style, also a Mino guy from the late shinshinto or Meiji period also. Rich Quote
Jacques Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Hi, A Tatara Nagayuki oshigata (come from the book "les sabres Shinto" written by Serge Degore): Quote
remzy Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Thanks Jacques, these two nakago and hamons are like moon and sun, unrelated. Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted November 22, 2007 Author Report Posted November 22, 2007 hi you are right Remy mei from oshigata is very different but it's because this sword ( from oshigata ) is not from Tatara Nagayuki ( NAG 562 ) but more probably from another Nagayuki ( perhaps NAG 148 not sure ) Quote
Jacques Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Hi, Perhaps i'm wrong but it seems to me that there is only one Tatara nagayuki. Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted November 22, 2007 Author Report Posted November 22, 2007 i am a bit confused, cause in Hawley's mei is very different, i will try to find oshigata from toko taikan ( page 467 ) or nihon toko jiten ( shinto page 181 ) Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 What about these (Shoki Mei) ? Quote
Jacques Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Hi, This one is OK for me :D Mei says Tatara shi Nagayuki on the omote, Settsu (no) kuni (ni) oite kore (wore) tsukuru on the ura. Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Nagayuki Oite Sesshu Kuni Saku Kore Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted November 22, 2007 Author Report Posted November 22, 2007 Carlo Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean with "shoki mei"? Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Made in early periods. Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Sorry for the telegraphic replies, but I'm chatting on skype with an estonian friend of mine. I've posted the first matching with NAG 562 and then the other not reported on Hawley (1981 edition, I've to update it...). Likely you've stopped searching to the one with "Tatara". I think you should find it in the sources you quoted with ref TK 467. Quote

Haven't you read my previous post ? All my posts were intended to Thierry. I'm totally ignoring you (in this thread...) Quote
Jacques Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 Hi, One thing is interesting in Tatara nagayuki work, he produced an utsuri and that was rare in shinto jidai Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted November 26, 2007 Author Report Posted November 26, 2007 Thank you Jacques, Carlo, Gordon an Rich for your help Regards Quote
