Anyone have a copy of the Natsuo Taikan? I picked up a pair of Natsuo menuki that are in the books and need to get a scan. I can trade a copy of my book to say thanks if anyone has this.

Are they not in Markus's Natsuo books?

They are in everything. Ford helped. Markus helped previously. Others offered and pointed around until it got to Ford and by then Ford had written already.

Nobody got flamed.

Nice day on the NMB today.

Thanks guys.

No. 110 – hatô no zu (波濤図) – Waves/surge, mei “Natsuo” (夏雄), made in Ansei five (1858)

gold, katachibori

Natsuo’s sword-related sketchbooks depict several sketches for wave motifs. These menuki are small but the waves are expressed vividly and with strength and intensity. Natsuo also made tsuba and kozuka with wave motifs, showing them in a realistic manner and in various forms, e.g. from gentle waves on the sea to wildly swoshing surges. Here the waves are magnificently captured right at the moment they break.

(see sword-related sketchbook p. 25 p. 37 and other sketchbook p. 98 p. 100)
