takakage Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 there is a belgium polisher at Bruges (Van Dame Zénon) but i don't know if he polish jumonji yari, contact him. however he works very well Quote
pcfarrar Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Tony Norman in the UK specialises in polishing Jumonji yari. I'm not sure if he's taking them on at the moment though. Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Hmm 1000 euros it dont seem me expensive. Jumonji yari is one of the most difficult blade to polish whith many curves and long cutting edge Quote
Jacques Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Hi, takakage said: there is a belgium polisher at Bruges (Van Dame Zénon) but i don't know if he polish jumonji yari, contact him.however he works very well Zenon told me that he does not want any more polish jumonji yari because those "eat" too much stones Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 http://www.nihontoantiques.com/restorat ... tiques.htm $100-$120 per inch Quote
Brian Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Yep, jumonji yari are very expensive and difficult to polish. I know many togishi simply refuse to work on them. I have one myself that I would love to get polished oneday. Louis Skebo in Canada also works on them. You can check the restoration section on the links page above for many other contacts. I don't think you will find one very close to you that will do a very good job. Brian Quote
Last-Samurai Posted November 23, 2007 Author Report Posted November 23, 2007 Here are some pics of it, it is 11,6 cm x 28,3 cm I am not sure if has to be polished, and if it is more of value when it is polished. Long time ago i posted it on an german board and a member gave me lots of hints about the origin. The member said: KAEI SHICHI NEN ? GATSU FUJIWARA HISAYUKI SAKU. I had contact a trader of Japanese weapons in germany. For asking what polishing costs. He said he would give me 400 € for the yari, and said yari polishing does cost 1000 €.But I do not trust in him. For 1000 euro i would not sell it!!!! It is in a showcase in my livingroom and sometimes I think of the spirit of that weapon and that times... It is an interesting object ,as it is possible, that this yari was used at the time when the americans landed in Japan. And the fact that Japan is so so far away, and it is of samurai or foottroops use....no clue who was bringing it to europe, and in which case....? It is from Austria. Does anybody has an idea for the line Austria and Japan? Anyway i have no idea of the value, do you think it is necessary to polish it ?? Greetings from Germany and many thanks for helping! Quote
Jacques Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Hi, This yari needs an entire polish but is this blade in polish? that is the question Quote
Last-Samurai Posted November 23, 2007 Author Report Posted November 23, 2007 Have a look at the other pics, below I tried to show them all maybe moderator can help me. I attached all files and only two can be seen at once, for the others you have to click on the download icons, sorry. Has all of it to be polished?? I was thinking only to let the blade be polished.Or isn`t this enough? Greetings Quote
