Hi everyone,

Trawling the web looking at this stuff as usual I came across this signature and don't know what it is but the kanji seems a little off??

Unfortunately I can't get anywhere close to working this sig out so any help in the right direction would be great. Also the 'cut' of the strokes seems so smooth as if they were drawn in?? I've also never seen the second kanji before, not that that's saying much... :doubt:

Anyway would love to hear your opinions!

Cheers

Matt

Matt,

you are probably right: some of the KANJI seem to be written in seal script. The way the chisel is used may vary; in this case I do not see any strange technique.

The upper part of the MEI above the upper MEKUGI-ANA seems very faint or heavily corroded. I would like to suggest showing the blade to an expert.

And if you don't mind showing the rest of the blade in detail as well; we are always curious to see and to learn......

I love you guys!! thanks so much for the support and help - @JimP, being from Melbourne is awesome, we have Aussie rules football and proper coffee FYI! @Jean, I had already worked out Kanenori but JimP is right, there is a lot of variance with that name which has been fun to explore! Massive thanks to @Thekrish for putting me in the right direction, and only revealing enough to keep me learning!

@ROKUJURO unfortunately I don't own this, it's up for auction here:
