hmultimedia Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Hi everyone, Trawling the web looking at this stuff as usual I came across this signature and don't know what it is but the kanji seems a little off?? Unfortunately I can't get anywhere close to working this sig out so any help in the right direction would be great. Also the 'cut' of the strokes seems so smooth as if they were drawn in?? I've also never seen the second kanji before, not that that's saying much... Anyway would love to hear your opinions! Cheers Matt Quote
Thekirsh Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 It's the real deal Matt, Try looking at the Mino School, Noshu ...Seki... and the smiths name is ##### nori, that should get you started . Cheers Simon ( Melbourne) Quote
Jim P Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Hi Matt,The mei is ok, Its worn down, We have someone in oz that is passionate about the Mino School Nihonto no Bi http://www.users.on.net/~coxm/? and its Kanenori saku Quote
Jean Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Jim, What is the urgency of filling the blank which was left on purpose by Simon? 1 Quote
Jim P Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Hi Jean, As he only has 23 posts and Kane can look a bit different and he is from Melbourne we can give him this one 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Matt, you are probably right: some of the KANJI seem to be written in seal script. The way the chisel is used may vary; in this case I do not see any strange technique. The upper part of the MEI above the upper MEKUGI-ANA seems very faint or heavily corroded. I would like to suggest showing the blade to an expert. And if you don't mind showing the rest of the blade in detail as well; we are always curious to see and to learn...... Quote
hmultimedia Posted March 24, 2016 Author Report Posted March 24, 2016 I love you guys!! thanks so much for the support and help - @JimP, being from Melbourne is awesome, we have Aussie rules football and proper coffee FYI! @Jean, I had already worked out Kanenori but JimP is right, there is a lot of variance with that name which has been fun to explore! Massive thanks to @Thekrish for putting me in the right direction, and only revealing enough to keep me learning! @ROKUJURO unfortunately I don't own this, it's up for auction here: http://morphyauctions.hibid.com/lot/23996396/wwii-Japanese-samurai-sword-/?q=WWII+Japanese+Samurai+Sword&sort=2&ref=catalog Cheers Matt Quote
