Hello everyone outthere.

I do have a little problem. :?:

Does anyone of you have any knowledge about the store which is called Black Samurai in Tokyo? You can find it on internet at http://www.armor8.com.

Today I did make a bid on two of the swords which are listed on this site, a Katana by Tairyusai Sokan and a katana which is gassaku by Kawano Sadashige and Kita Sadahiro.

When I looked at internet for information on Sokan I did find a sword listed at http://www.legacyswords.com/nihontocons2.htm.

At both sides there is a photo of a TokubetsuHozon Token certificate :!: , on the site of legacyswords.com the nakago of the katana is dated Ansei shichi nen and on the site of armor8.com it is dated Ansei go nen just like it is stated on the certificate.

I did send a mail to both the sites in the hope for an anwser.

So if anyone can give me some information on the reliability of those two sites, I would be more then happy :)

Hello,

I have never purchased from armor8 but I do know that he has used pictures of armor from a reputed armour dealer in Kyoto and, while browsing the armor8 web site, I also recognised other items from another reputed dealer in Japan.

I would be VERY careful before sending any money.

Paul.

PS: here is what one of the dealers has for a warning on his web site (Brian please let me know if I am allowed to do this):

WARNING!

Site by the name of armor8.com calling himself 'Black Samurai' has illegally downloaded text and images of masks and helmets from my site and is trying to sell them as his own. Other photographs of pieces he 'offers for sale' have likewise been plagiarised from other sites. The address he gives in Tokyo does not exist and his credentials are completely bogus. DO NOT Under any circumstances attempt to purchase from armor8.com as you will be defrauded of your money.

The site armor8.com is registered to a Chinese guy in Beijing.

He has taken pictures and information from all over the web. If you have sent a paypal payment I suggest you cancel it straight away and change your password immediately.

Legacyswords.com is a legitimate site btw.

Hello everyone,

I'm glad with the quick response you did gave on this subject :)

And no I have not send any money yet :D

I think this site must be avoid for the future

Thanks for your input

By the way the same sword is listed at ricecracker.com, with the same pictures, so now I know where he did get the pictures

Well done to Paul and Peter for a very good catch. And congrats to Jos for having the foresight to check up on a purchase before jumping into it.

Nice one guys :)

Hi All,

As a follow-up to clarify;

The images that Mr. Bonsel pulled up from my site are still archived there from the time I offered the same sword for consignment sale on behalf of a client some years back. My client made other arrangements for the sword and the listing was cancelled from my site but the images and text will come up in some search engines caches.

Mr. Bonsel and I have already corresponded privately on this subject. Glad he was able to find out about all this before shelling out a bunch of Euro.

One would think by the appearance of the site that he could put those efforts to better and more legitimate uses. Too bad...

Didn`t take long for him to pull the site... I have just tried to see armor8.com and it is gone it seems!!

He will probably pop up under another name soon I guess...

Cheers!

EDIT....actually found it under just armor8.com..... no www in front... man that is quite a fraud... very smart website...... contact addresses and numbers... etc etc... does paypal have a policy against this kind of thing?

Thanks Thierry....

As it is obviously (thanks to JOS) a fraudulent site, is there any reason why we shouldn`t blitz it with offers without payment just to waste the guy`s time?

I have never seen such a clever fraud with regards to nihonto...

cheers!
