sbf Posted March 12, 2022 Report Posted March 12, 2022 Beautiful sword! I have a Hayama Enshin dated Meiji 42 in civilian mounts. It’s a fairly light sword. Steve 1 Quote

MarcoUdin Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 Having the second hanger makes the outfit looks so much better. Congrats John 1 Quote
cju777 Posted April 2, 2022 Report Posted April 2, 2022 This may have been here before, but I like it a lot so here goes- top is a 1941 Yasushige, in “high class” T98 mounts. Lower is an unsigned late koto blade used for the war in good mounts and leather cover. don’t tell my typical nanbochuko group they’ve been replaced on the kake. 4 1 Quote
Bruno Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 I don't buy often to say the least but this year I bought a 26 inches TSUKAMOTO MASAKAZU (TSUKAMOTO OKIMASA's brother). Private order and I guess never mounted in Gunto koshirae. 4 2 Quote
Ooitame Posted April 9, 2022 Report Posted April 9, 2022 Freshly polished Nagamitsu, pics coming soon. Hada was surprised to find mokume some which go into the shinoji, hamon activity is awesome, even found slight traces of hakikake in the ko-maru boshi. 2 Quote

May I ask who did the polish? Looking forward to see the photos? Thanks! 1 1 Quote
Bazza Posted April 10, 2022 Report Posted April 10, 2022 Maybe its not a shoshin Nagamitsu??!! BaZZa. Quote
Ooitame Posted April 10, 2022 Report Posted April 10, 2022 As promised, NTHK kantiesho Nagamitsu Saku Showa Type 3, Saka Stamped Ichi 0313, tachi side hada; did a crappy job. But here you go. 6 Quote
Stephen Posted April 10, 2022 Report Posted April 10, 2022 Lovely hada, i wish he'd had burnished above the ji...but still nice. 1 Quote
Ooitame Posted April 10, 2022 Report Posted April 10, 2022 Katana side, think I am figuring out pics, lol. I asked him about that and he said he wanted to make the ji clear and leave it as in his opinion, and that of his teachers. Hamon to come next maybe... hope you enjoy as much as I do. Looks 100x better in hand. 5 Quote
MarcoUdin Posted April 10, 2022 Report Posted April 10, 2022 Beautiful blade Eric! Can we also get a pic of the nakago. Just curious how he signed this one. 1 Quote
Ooitame Posted April 11, 2022 Report Posted April 11, 2022 @vajo I believe you like Nagmitsu, and studying hamon. I don't think it gets better than this, well maybe a professional photographer could make it better, anyways enjoy! Quote

PNSSHOGUN Posted April 12, 2022 Report Posted April 12, 2022 There is enough variance in his Mei and work that this is almost certain. Quote
IJASWORDS Posted April 12, 2022 Report Posted April 12, 2022 A (Kawashima) TADAYOSHI, shodai, 1st generation. No date, with a long 67cm Nagasa blade. What is there not to like about a fairly mint blade/koshirae outfit. Blade is ubu ba, with a lot of life left in it. I bet the officer in WW2 got a lot of pleasure every time he pulled it out. 11 1 Quote
lonely panet Posted April 12, 2022 Author Report Posted April 12, 2022 neil neil neil, you keep them coming Quote
IJASWORDS Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 When it comes to collecting and studying WW2 Gendai swords, in my humble opinion, a Gunto with Horimono is one of the "Holy Grails" of the era. Here is a 1935 KANETOKI (later to become KANEMICHI). In early gloss lacquered mounts, with some red/brown paint of the time, still evident on the fittings. With a 67cm Nagasa, it is both beautiful and powerful. A special order sword for Lord Tsukaharu, must have cost the Lord a pretty penny in its day. 3 3 1 Quote
robinalexander Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 Now that is just 'a little bit special' Neil. For a Gunto Gendai collector it has so much going for it. Verrry nice! Do you have any mei translation that you could easily post? Also, any closer of pics of the hada and hamon would be nice. Rob Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 Even the date is skillfully and artfully crafted! Truly gorgeous! Quote
Michael 67 Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 Hello friends, shodai Yoshichika in unusual mounts. I would be happy if I could get more information about it. 3 1 1 Quote
oli Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 Hi, nice sword! (http://www.japaneseswordindex.com/yoshchik.htm) did it has "Hakudo Tameshi-giri Sho" (Tested by Hakudo) on the nakago? regards Oli Quote
Michael 67 Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 sorry, the question was for the mounts, I know Yoshichika, thanks for the link anyway Quote
MarcoUdin Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 I think Oli is asking if it has a cutting test on the nakago, not a statement 1 1 Quote
oli Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 another pictures of Yoshichika tachi: https://www.samuraishokai.jp/sword/16138.html 1 Quote
Michael 67 Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 you're right Marc, I didn't see that. It has no cuttingtest and no date 2 Quote
