Gunome Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Hello, I thinks the mei of this kozuka read Tomomori 友盛 + Kao Can someone confirm me the correct reading ? Thanks Sébastien Quote
Curran Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Look at it as 3 characters. Tomo + (?) + a Kao [maker's mark] Off the top of my head, don't know what is the 2nd character. Steve or Markus [the Wunderkinderen] will probably nail it down before I even finish typing this. Quote
Gunome Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 Curran, John, Thanks for your help to translate this mei. If someone have any information about this maker, I would be grateful. Thanks Sebastien Quote
Gunome Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 Yes, of course. Here is a pics of the kozuka. Ground is ishime and not nanako. Ishiguro school ? 1 Quote
SteveM Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Wakayama's reference tells me his real last name was Yamamoto, that he worked in Nagasaki, and that he continued working until the Meiji era. He also signed as Munehide (宗英), and was a student of Tomohide (友英). Nice looking kozuka! Quote
ROKUJURO Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 If this was bought from KLEFISCH (lot 500, Auction 91) they added the following information: TOMONARI (H 10010) had been working in Hamano style.Hope that helps! Quote
