Stephen Posted January 4, 2016 Report Posted January 4, 2016 Looking to do a test on a nakago thats lost to rust, layered rust, part mei hidden by rust, ect Blade should have no value, that being said nothing will be done to any part other than nakago. Willing to pay return shipping anywhere, but not to get it to me. Below is the process it will be put thru, only the rusty area will be in the mix. Have had interesting results on rusted tsuba, would like to take it to next step and try it on lost nakago, especially if a obscured mei to rust. The rustier the better
jason_mazzy Posted January 4, 2016 Report Posted January 4, 2016 very, very, interesting. was curious if it would be a better way to remove rust and then patination.
Greg F Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 Hi Stephen. Ive seen a video of this method somewhere but not on nakago, would be interesting to see a before and after. All the best. Greg
SAS Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 Komonjo has some good candidates on ebay but it could get a bit pricey.
Greg F Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 He does have some great candidates. Its like a never ending supply of rusty blades. Ive seen some ok deals that would've been ideal. All the best. Greg
