No, my family lives in Kyoto. They send it to him via express mail.

But they spoke to him over the phone several times.

They told me that he is a very nice guy, and that he is still currently making swords.

That's twice that someone has said that. Thanks and all, but I can assure you that you're applying the word "expert" far too liberally. I have learned a couple things and might know a little more than a few, but an expert, I am not.

Great thread, glad to see you were able to have the sayagaki done by the smith himself.  You are lucky to have such nice family, and to be located in Japan, wow.

I'm very happyy for you.  The fact you received personal authentication from Seto san himself is really special.  I'm kind of in the same boat as you...I'm awaiting a Seto Yoshihiro katana which I picked up in Kyoto this past month.   Good Luck on yours.

Hello Santos,

Do you have any pictures of your Yoshihiro Katana?

When was it made?

Hey Greg,

Having trouble uploading picture...says its too big.  They're 7.5MG...let me figure out something.

Sword is shinogi-zukuri with koshi zori....and choji gunome midare hamon.

I find that if I set the resolution to 120 dpi and the largest dimension to 1200 pixels I get a reasonable ten inch image that fits on all current screens. The image at that size meets the board's size limitations and is easy to do.

You have every right to be proud. It is a beautiful blade, with oshigata, sayagaki and in full polish. And comes as a gift from family. That ticks ALL the boxes in my opinion.
