Johannes Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 hello everybody, i have some problems in identifying the mei on this fuchi, due to the lack of tosogu-books in my bookshelf. maybe one of you guys who own the haynes or the kinko-meikan can help me with this hazzard. i think the right part of the mei reads "hashizume". but the left part is difficult without knowing the right metalworker. it is signed with a kao. any help is greatly apprecciated. thanks in advance, Johannes Quote
Ludolf Richter Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 Hi Johannes,it wasn't easy to find this artist (a very rare "yoshi" Kanji!),but here is the result: Hashizume Tomoyoshi plus Kao Hashizume is the family name,Tomoyoshi the Go.He is listed in the Haynes index with H 10222.It's not much known about Tomoyoshi. He lived in the 2nd half of the 18th century and was born at Mito in Hitachi, but went to Edo later and became a member of the Omori school. No Tsuba made by him is recorded in the books, only Fuchi/Kashira.Ludolf Quote
Nobody Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 The kanji for Tomoyoshi on the left may be 知懿. Quote
